10 Things To This Summer
Summer is now in full swing and you probably have heard "I'm bored!" at least a dozen times already. So what is a mom to do? Here are 10 fun things that you can do with your kids this summer:
1. Have a water balloon fight: That's right, head outside, fill some balloons with water and just have fun!
2. Visit a State Park: Check your area and see if there is a state park nearby. They are cheaper than most places, only charging a few dollars for parking.
3. Go to the Museum: Now is the time to check out the museum. Your kids will love it and won't realize they are learning during summer break.
4. Go Backyard Camping: It is much more cost effective and you know where the bathroom is located. Kids won't care because they will get to sleep outside.
5. Have a picnic: Instead of having lunch or dinner at the table, get a blanket and set things up outside.
6. Roast some marshmallows: Next time you have a barbeque let your kids roast marshmallows.
7. Flour Treasure: This game is messy, but fun! Fill a small swimming pool with floor (or sand) and bury as many pennies as you can in there. Turn the kids loose and let them find all the pennies. The winner gets a prize, everyone gets a hose down.
8. Kid's Day: Take one day where the kids decide everything you are going to do that day. Set a few ground rules as you want everyone to be safe, but just go with it. No matter how silly it feels, they will have a blast.
9. Pick some Fruit: Visit a fruit stand, or even better an orchard, and pick some fruit together. It gets you all outside and you get some great snacks.
10. Fun Freeze: Again this can be messy. Take small toys and freeze them in Tupperware(R), ice trays, or whatever you have. Put all the "molds" into a small pool and let your kids excavate. They can use spoons, toothbrushes, and other tools to get to the toys.

Where we used to live, in Muscle Shoals, AL, they had a wonderful, free splash pad. We currently live in Corinth , MS where there are sadly no splash pads at all and very few public pools-I think the only one is at a country club. So we just get out sidewalk chalk and the water hose and draw pictures and wash them away and then draw some more and spray the kids good with the water hose.
